Feature reference
Who this page is for: client website admins — the volunteers who run the day-to-day site once it's launched, and anyone who needs to look up how a specific feature works.
This section is a standing reference, not a guided path — see Setup guide for that. Come back here whenever you need to look up a detail the setup guide didn't cover in full, or need a refresher on something you set up a while ago.
Most pages in this section assume the same non-technical background as the setup guide. One is the exception, because the feature itself is technical: Forum's setup section quotes raw Discourse configuration values. It still explains what each step is for in plain language.
Pages in this section
- Articles — blog-style posts, the articles index page, and the Recent Articles home page widget.
- CMS — the Wagtail content-management system that underlies the whole site: page types, reserved page addresses, and the special menu links your provider sets up.
- Events — the optional events feature, if your association chose to enable it.
- Forum — how the connected Discourse forum is configured and kept in sync with your site's memberships.
- Memberships & organisations — membership statuses and how they change, staff notification emails, and organisation seats, invitations and deactivation.
- Questions members ask — short answers to forward when a member asks you something directly: renewing, cancelling, the forum, a forgotten password.
- Resources — the optional resources (downloadable file) feature, if your association chose to enable it.
- Terms & policies — publishing a privacy policy, terms of service, or similar, and what happens to members who haven't accepted the latest version.
- Theme customisation — every colour and font field in Theme Settings, in full.
- Users & permissions — what a Group, Staff status, and Superuser status each control, and how to change them for an existing account.
Xero billing setup lives with the rest of the provisioning documentation: see Xero billing in Hosting AMS — it's a one-time integration usually handled by your provider, but you may still need to look something up.
